Prior to using retold I was using For Days Take Back Bags and the Knickey recycling service for underwear since For Days wouldn’t take them. These were both great services but I tried out retold because they would take all textiles. Also, For Days used to imply that they did not donate any usable textiles so I had to separate out stuff that I thought was still good to donate myself. Since then, For Days has updated their service to take all types of textiles and they do donate and resell the good stuff so functionally there’s no difference between these two services. I like the subscription model of Retold and the smaller bags because I don’t have to store all the textiles until the huge For Days bag is full, but overall I am not 100% satisfied with the Retold service.
Pros: subscription so I don’t have to think about it, smaller bag means I get rid of piled up textiles sooner, bags are compostable, take any textiles.
Cons: I haven’t had a problem with the bags ripping but they do seem fragile. The bags are translucent so I’m uncomfortable sending things like underwear. Bags are expensive for the size compared to $20 for the huge For Days bag which I also get back entirely as shopping credit. Rewards are fun but discounts aren’t better than you get as a new customer and most are for first order only. I never got a delivery confirmation for my bags and had to email them to get my rewards.
I will keep this for the pros, but hope it improves.

It's very difficult, if not impossible, to find local opportunities for textile recycling, so Retold is truly filling a need. It's been a huge relief to have them as an option. That said, the bags are small, so you can't fit much in one, and it is an expensive service. However, I see the company as a work in progress and want to support them in these early stages. Their mission is much needed and so important!

Love the thought and care put into designing this service (the shipping bags are even compostable?!?).
Bags felt a little flimsy, as others have said, but I stuffed them full and there was no tearing or stretching. Grateful to have an easy textile recycling solution!

The idea behind these bags is great! I just wish they were bigger and a little more sturdy. The bags are great for sending small textile items, but nothing bulky or even slightly thick. My only complaint is about the size and quality of the bags included - they're just a bit small and a bit flimsy, but otherwise...I love what they do and I'll continue to be a customer.

I love this idea as I always feel terrible when I throw away something that I feel could be reused or recycled. My only "gripe" would be in regards to the size of the bags. They are small. It would be nice to have a range of sizes. The bags were great for the bin of unpaired/lost socks I had, but I also wanted to send in a bed comforter but that didn't come close to being able to fit. I received the first three bags and I filled then instantly, I could have filled at least five more. Otherwise this is a great idea, I love keeping anything I can out of a landfill.
